Good to know

Replacement text uses the closest standard font (sans, serif or mono, with bold/italic), not always the PDF’s own font. Paragraphs don’t reflow, so longer replacements can make a line wider. Text split oddly inside the PDF (for example letter-by-letter positioning across lines) may not be found. Only horizontal text; scanned pages need OCR first. Processed on our server and deleted automatically.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the new text is longer?

The rest of that line is re-typeset after the replacement so nothing overlaps. In narrow columns the line can run wider than before, because paragraphs don’t reflow.

Is the old text really gone?

Yes. The original characters are removed from the page content, and we check the finished file to make sure the search text no longer appears.
