Features
- Click any line of text on the page and type over it
- Keeps the position, size and colour of the original text

- Works with Hindi, Arabic and other scripts that need shaping
- Shrinks long edits slightly so they stay within the original width
Good to know
New text is set in the closest standard font (sans, serif or mono, with bold/italic), not always the PDF’s own font. Edits are line by line — paragraphs don’t reflow, and very long edits are shrunk (to 70% at most) and may then run past the original width. Only horizontal text can be edited; scanned pages need OCR first. Processed on our server and deleted automatically.
How to use Edit Existing PDF Text
- 1Upload your PDF.
- 2Click the text you want to change and type the new wording.
- 3Repeat on any page, then click “Save changes” and download.
Frequently asked questions
Will the edited text use the same font?
It uses the closest standard font in the same style (sans-serif, serif or monospaced; bold or italic). PDFs usually embed only the letters they already use, so the original font often can’t type new words. Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New are matched almost exactly.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Not directly — a scan is a picture with no text in it. Run OCR PDF first, then edit the recognised text.
Is Edit Existing PDF Text really free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no premium tier. The only limits are technical ones that keep the service fast for everyone.
What happens to my files?
Your files are sent over an encrypted connection, processed in an isolated worker, and deleted automatically within 30 minutes — or immediately when you click “Delete now”. We never share them or use them for training.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 100 MB are accepted. This technical limit protects the free service from overload and is the same for everyone.
