Will compression reduce quality?
Only images are affected. "High quality" keeps images near print resolution; "Extreme" lowers image resolution much more. Text and vector graphics stay sharp at every level.
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Files that are mostly text, or were already compressed, have little left to remove. If the result would be larger than the original, we give you back the original.
